Flexible Spending Account

The Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA) through Inspira Financial lets you pay for eligible health care expenses on a pre-tax basis through payroll deductions.
Who's Eligible
- Benefits-eligible United States Coworkers
- Coworkers who are not enrolled in the BCBSTX HSA Basic or HSA Plus medical plan, including those who waive medical coverage
- You cannot participate if your spouse/domestic partner is enrolled in a Health Savings Account (HSA)
How it Works
Inspira Financial administers the HCFSA, which helps you save significantly on taxes while paying for health care expenses.
HCFSA Contributions
- Contribution Changes — Changes are not allowed during the year unless you experience a qualifying life event.
Disclaimer: FSA contributions for highly compensated Coworkers may be limited depending on the outcome of certain IRS nondiscrimination tests.
Annual Contribution Limit
- Up to $3,400
Contribution Amount
- Estimate your anticipated health care expenses for the year.
- Choose your annual contribution amount. To find your per-pay-period deduction, divide your annual election by the number of (or remaining) pay periods in the year.
Eligible Expenses
Medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision expenses not paid by your insurance — see the full list of IRS-approved expenses here or visit the online FSA Store, where everything is FSA-eligible. Save all itemized receipts!
Funds
- Availability of Funds — The full amount is available at the start of the year or the beginning of the month after your benefits start date.
- Accessing Funds — Use an Inspira Financial debit card for eligible expenses, or file claims directly for reimbursement.*
* Health Care FSA reimbursements cannot be used for domestic partners or their children.
Use-It-Or-Lose-It Deadline
The 2026 deadline to file claims is March 31, 2027, for eligible health care expenses you incur(red) between January 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026, while you were a FSA participant. In general, you have until March 31 of the following year to submit claims for services incurred between January 1 and December 31. Any unused FSA funds are forfeited.
Leaving Office Depot
- Your FSA coverage ends on your separation date.
- You can request reimbursement for eligible expenses incurred up to that date, and you have until March 31 of the following year to submit claims.
- Any remaining balance is forfeited once eligible claims are paid, unless you enroll in COBRA coverage.
How to Enroll
Enrollment is processed alongside your other core benefit coverage on the Office Depot Benefits Hub or by calling 888-954-4636 (select option 1).
