Medical Plan — Hawaii

Hawaii residents have one medical plan available through Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA). If you live in Hawaii, HMSA is your dedicated medical plan choice for comprehensive, local care.
About the Plan
HMSA offers a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) medical plan that gives you flexibility to see providers without referrals and offers set copays for services. You must use the HMSA local network doctors and facilities designed specifically for Hawaii residents for services to be covered.
HMSA
You pay set copays for office visits and prescription drugs, and you pay the full cost of care for other services until you meet the deductible. After you meet the deductible, you pay 20% coinsurance for services until you meet your out-of-pocket (OOP) maximum, then the plan pays 100% of covered services. Preventive care is free.
Medical Coverage Summary
HMSA provides both in-network and out-of-network coverage; however, using out-of-network providers will increase out-of-pocket (OOP) costs.
